Fifth Straight Win
Winchester, NH -- For the eighth consecutive
season, the Valenti Modified
Racing Series will celebrate our nations
birthday at Monadnock Speedway,
Winchester, NH., with the running of the
“Firecracker 100” for modified
race cars.
The special holiday program, Saturday, July
2, has become a tradition
in New England motorsports. A strong field
of racers from throughout the
Northeast is expected to enter.
The popular program, including a gigantic
fireworks display, has been
dominated by Monadnock Speedway track
Champion Kirk Alexander, of
Swanzey, NH. The three-time VMRS series
champion and part-time series
competitor, has won six races, including the
last four-in-a-row.
Fellow Monadnock regular Jim Boniface,
Winchester, NH., won the 100-lap
race in 2006. Boniface and Todd Patnode,
another former track champion,
are expected to compete.
Series point leader Rowan Pennink, of
Huntingdon Valley, PA., takes a slim
four-point lead into Saturdays race over
Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., and
a 10-point lead over Les Hinckley III,
Windsor Locks, CT.
Defending and two-time series Champion, Jon
McKennedy, of E.Chelmsford,
MA., who recently moved into fifth place in
the point-standings, is entered.
Louie Mechalides, Tyngsboro, MA., a
four-time series winner is expected as
is Madison, CT., veteran, Mike Holdridge,
two-time Monadnock series winner
Rob Goodenough, Swanzey, 2010 Koszela Speed
Rookie of the Year Todd
Annarummo, Swansea, MA., and Steven Masse,
Bellingham, MA.
Saturday’s 100-lap feature is a “Chase To
The Race” qualifier for the
prestigious “Ricky’s Race For Kids” to be
contested July 16, at Canaan
Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH.
The race benefits David’s House, in Lebanon,
NH., a home away from home
for families with ill or injured children
receiving treatment through children’s
hospital at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical
Center in Lebanon, NH
The postponed race at Stafford, CT., June
24, created a makeup date of July 29 forcing
officials to trim the Stafford qualifier
from the list of scheduled
qualifying races. After Monadnock, one race
will remain on that schedule,
at Lee, NH., July 8. Double points will be
awarded.
Qualifying races get underway at 5:00 PM.
